Subject: Goldfish

Hi,

I have a goldfish with the long fanned tail. I noticed yesterday that

there are white spots appearing on its tail and dorsal fin. Is this

something I should be worried about? If there is something wrong, what

could it be, and what do I do?

Jennifer Simpkin

Jennifer,

Sounds like your Goldfish has developed the fish illness known as "Ick."

This is probably the most common fish disease in the hobby. It sounds like you probably keep this fish in a bowl by itself.

My best advice to you, for many reasons, is to go to your local fish store and buy an ick medicine. Follow the instructions carefully and your

Goldfish should be fine.

I hope your Goldfish gets better and hope that you continue enjoying

fishkeeping.
