Cichlid of Africa

An East African Lake Chiclid. The waters of these lake are usually hard and alkaline, some more so than others. The waters of Lake Malawi where the Pseudotropheus auratus resides is extremely clear and pure. It is best not to mix cichlids from one lake with another.

The group this Pseudotropheus auratus belongs to is the Mbuna and they can be found around the rocky shorelines of the lake. Tanks should afford them ample rocks among a large community due to their competitiveness. Changing the water and good filtering is called for when keeping these beauties.
